Celtic Challenge 2007

This is the official Blog of the 2007 Celtic Pétanque Challenge, hosted by Abergavenny Pétanque Club. This Blog has been designed to facilitate communications between APC and delegates of the IPA, SPA and WPA who will be attending the event, whilst also allowing any delegates form the aforementioned bodies to raise any issues they would like clarified. I guess this site could also be used for any general pétanque-related banter,.....if you really want!

The Final Countdown....!!

Well, this Blog hasn't been used as much as I'd maybe hoped and who knows if anyone will check back in the next week to read this before the event actually goes ahead, but never mind!!

We're now in the final run-up to the competition and final plans will be made tomorrow (Tuesday 1st) to arrange, with the usual military precision, the preparation of the venue on the afternoon of Friday 4th prior to the arrival of the teams in Abergavnny in the evening. Play itself begins at 9.30am on Saturday 5th and all signs are that the event should be a success....

Posters and flyers have been printed and distributed around Abergavenny itself and also in neighbouring towns. These advertise the event to the public, highlighting free entry and listing the on-site attractions (aside from watching the boule of course!). This advertising, and the fact that the terrain is in the main public park should mean that there will be a good crowd throughout the day and hopefully some new convertees to the sport of pétanque!

We wish all players, officials and supporters travelling to Abergavenny for the event a safe journey and we look forward to welcoming you to our home from this Friday!

To our friends from the IPA .......

Thank you for posting on our Blog and also for your kind comments about Abergavenny. We are certainly looking forward to hosting the event next May. Should you wish to come and play in Abergavenny at any time before (or indeed after) the competition, please feel free to do so. Please get in touch via the website and we will try to meet up with you and provide any assistance or information you may need. In the meantime, I am sure that some spelling errors in the IPA personnel on the main site had been pointed out, but the post seems to have disappeared mysteriously.....!!! If there are errors, please accept my apologies and feel free to let me know where they are by replying to this post or sending me an email from the website. I will then make any alterations necessary. Gareth.
